The Athletics Federation of Nigeria has formally requested the release of two promising athletes, Miracle Ezechukwu Eluebube and Rosemary Nwankwo Chigozie, to strengthen Nigeria’s team ahead of the upcoming international competition in Botswana.

According to the federation, the athletes are expected to join the Nigerian delegation already in Botswana, where preparations are ongoing for the World Athletics Relays scheduled for May 2–3, 2026. The delegation has been in the host country since last week in pursuit of qualification opportunities.

The AFN emphasized the urgency of the request, noting that the athletes were scheduled to depart Abuja for Lagos on March 30, 2026, for onward travel to Botswana. The federation also apologized for the late notice, appealing for swift approval to enable the athletes represent Nigeria on the international stage.

In its communication, the AFN expressed appreciation for continued support toward sports development in Nigeria and conveyed the President’s best sporting regards, underscoring the importance of the athletes’ participation in boosting the country’s chances at the competition. 🇳🇬🏃‍♀️✨
